Next week, I’ll stop talking about my day trip to Los Angeles, but right now I need to rave about this food.
Los Angeles is still a fairly new playground for me, so I sent out a general inquiry to friends for suggestions of where to eat. Heather told me to go to Real Food Daily; she told me she daydreams about the dishes there. That was a good endorsement in my book.

So Kim and I went, and we agonized over the immense menu. For the first time, I couldn’t immediately rule anything out (like beef and pork): the whole menu was vegan. It was like being a kid in a candy store. I finally settled on the open-faced BLT (the bacon being made from tempeh) with salad and the sea cake appetizer, a combination of butternut squash, yams, and sea vegetables, surrounded by pesto and sweet chili aioli. Kim had the Caesar wrap with blackened tempeh.

I think I’ll be daydreaming with Heather from now on. Everything was so fresh, so delicious, so yum.
Real Food Daily has two locations: one in Santa Monica on Santa Monica Blvd, the other in West Hollywood on La Cienega Blvd. Check out their amazing menu and more on their website, www.realfood.com.
